The 1881st Communications Squadron was part of the U.S. Combat Air Forces in Vietnam. It was often cited for its Meritorious Service (with Valor) in providing direct communications and air traffic control support for the U.S. and Republic of Vietnam Air Force Units launching air strikes against the enemy. The squadron was part of the Air Force Communications Service which provided global communications and air traffic control for the USAF.
